That is, mother cow is the mother of the entire world who provides nourishment to everyone in some form or the other. Cows have been important to us in our daily routine since ancient times. From milk production to farming, our native cows and bulls have an important place which cannot be denied. But in today’s fast-paced life and blind race of development, the decline in human attitude towards cows is worrying. Due to reduction in milk production or any kind of incurable animal disease, the cows living in urban and rural areas are abandoned on the streets or are sold at throwaway prices through some animal trader. This not only encourages animal smuggling but also increases the contagiousness of animal diseases due to illegal transportation of animals on a large scale.
Jharkhand Cow Seva Commission is striving for the welfare and preservation of cattle in the state, so that not only the incidents of illegal cattle smuggling can be stopped but also through the development of basic infrastructure and arrangements made for daily food etc. through registered cow shelters in the state. Operators can also be encouraged for the welfare of mother cows. In most of the districts of Jharkhand state, work related to cow welfare is being done by enriching the cow shelters run for disabled and adopted cows. It is the effort of the Commission to bring all the registered cow shelters of the state under one umbrella and protect them in such a way that they can become self-reliant against future challenges. Jharkhand Cow Seva Commission is trying to come out of the present scenario and connect the common people with cow shelters, for which a separate ‘Hamari Gaumata Hamara Abhiyaan Yojana’ scheme is being run. Cow dung and cow urine to motivate women of farmer families towards self-employment in future. Efforts are being made to provide natural habitat to the unproductive cows in their families by making artworks made from cow dung cakes, making items and materials of daily use, making vermicompost etc. This will enrich our animal population and clear messages can be given to our future generations regarding adopting humane approach towards animals and ecological balance and conservation. With these efforts, the identity of Jharkhand state can be established as a welfare cow protector and cow promoter state.
